Kiir names new cabinet, Machar absent

South Sudan President named a new cabinet on Wednesday. After sacking the entire cabinet last week, a presidential decree issued Wednesday has seen a reshuffle and promotions. The post of Vice President hasn't been filled yet. Jonglei govenor Kuol Manyang has been appointed Defense Minister. Oil Minister Stephen Dhieu Dau is one of the few to retain his post, while former Communications Minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin has been appointed Foreign Minister. It remains to be seen if Riak Machar will be appointed to his previous post of VP. See here for full list of the new cabinet.
